Vacation in North Frisian Islands
Location and orientation
The North Frisian Islands lie in the North Frisian Wadden Sea off the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. Besides the larger German islands Sylt, Uthörn, Föhr, Amrum, Pellworm and the peninsula Nordstrand, many smaller marsh islands, the so-called Halligen as well as Danish water islands belong to the extensive archipelago. As part of the North Sea, the North Frisian Islands belong to the North Frisian District and are therefore surrounded by the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, but are not part of the park's protected area.
Two thirds of Pellworm, also called "Little Ireland", consists of lush green meadows, where a total of 4500 sheep and cows graze.

On the largest North Frisian island Sylt with its almost 1000 square meters you spend a stylish holiday on a high level in a luxurious holiday house. Enjoy an extensive walk on the extensive beaches of the North Sea island, let a stiff sea breeze blow around your nose and shop for maritime souvenirs on the "Côte d'Azur of Germany". Discover the health resorts of Westerland on Sylt together with the fish specialities restaurant "Gosch", visit Stone Age megalithic graves in Kampen or take part in guided mudflat walks in Wenningstedt-Braderup.
2. Hiking and sightseeing on AmrumThe North Sea island of Amrum, with its historic lighthouses and mills, is a perfect place for a romantic holiday in a cosy holiday apartment. The scenic diversity of the island, idyllically situated in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, becomes clear when you look at the 180-hectare forest area, one of the largest continuous knee sand beaches in Europe and the dune landscape with its heather. Whether hiking holiday, wellness stay or sightseeing trip - Amrum presents itself extremely versatile.
3. Seals look at LangeoogThe quiet and tranquil North Sea island of Langeoog is the ideal holiday destination for windsurfers, nature lovers and animal lovers. Here you can ride the waves while surfing on the 14 kilometres long beach, enjoy a wonderful view of the sea and the surrounding islands on the higher promenade or watch cute seals on the easternmost tip of the island, the so-called "Osterhook", who let the sun shine on their fur on the adjoining seal banks.
