Location and orientation
Palma de Mallorca is the throbbing heart of the popular holiday island Mallorca - after all, about half of all (permanent) inhabitants live here. It is worth mentioning that more and more foreigners are setting up camp in the Mallorcan capital. Palma de Mallorca itself stretches along the beautiful bay of Palma in the west of the island and, together with all its suburbs, stretches for 30 kilometres from S'Arenal in the east to Magaluf in the west. The historic old town is an exciting mix of Spanish and Arabic architecture and is characterised by the typical alleyways, some of which are only connected by stairs and gables. In this colourful confusion, in the orderly chaos, you will surely find one or the other holiday apartment according to your taste! Of course, Palma de Mallorca has its own, much frequented airport. It is about 8 kilometres from the city centre and can be reached by taxi, public transport and shuttle buses. Palma de Mallorca also has great beaches to offer: the Platja de Palma stretches east for ten kilometres to S'Arenal, to the west the bay Cala Major awaits your visit. In the north-west, Palma de Mallorca is separated from the central plain of Mallorca by gentle ranges of hills - a great area for long walks and mountain bike tours, especially in the spring and autumn months, when temperatures are pleasantly mild.
