Location and orientation
To get to your apartment on Capri, it is best to travel via Naples airport, which is served by numerous German airports such as Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin. The journey by car is not recommended, because the traffic on Capri is very limited. As the island can only be reached by boat, you can take the ferry to Capri either in Naples or Sorrento. As the shipping companies use different types of ships, which also vary in size, you have to plan between 40 and 75 minutes for the crossing to the ferry port in the north of the island.
Locomotion on siteThe best way to get there is by taxi, especially as the prices are comparatively low and thanks to local drivers you can also see the absolute insider tips of the island. What is also unique is that many of the taxis are cabriolets, so you can enjoy the breathtaking coastal scenery undisturbed while driving. Alternatively, you can use the well-developed bus network, which connects all important places every hour. If, on the other hand, you would like to set off on your own, rent an Italian scooter in the proper style or pedal a mountain bike.
Things to know
Up to seven hours of sunshine a day, warming the air to a pleasant 18 degrees Celsius, attract the first cultural tourists and active holidaymakers to Capri as early as May. However, the main season extends from June to September, when up to 10 hours of sunshine ensure that the Mediterranean heats up to a pleasant bathing temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Those who want to enjoy the beauty of the island away from the tourist streams can book their apartment on Capri for October.
Regular eventsThe programme of events on Capri begins with the traditional island carnival in February. We continue with the "Regata dei Tre Golfi", the "Rolex Capri Sailing Week" and the procession in honour of St. Constanzo in May. Further highlights follow with the rowing regatta in July, the public festival "Notte di San Lorenzo" in August and the big New Year's Eve celebration in December.
The Capri model from the car manufacturer Ford is named after the island, as is an ice cream variety from Langnese and the fruit juice drink Capri-Sun.
