1. Hidden Gem The Hague: Fotomuseum

This museum is relatively young, as it opened its doors in 2002. Throughout the year you can find about six different exhibitions, simultaneously showcasing interesting topics. The selection houses works by revered photographers, such as Emmy Andriessestraa. After exploring everything, the museum´s cafe and garden invite you for a good cup of coffee and some outdoor relaxing. The entrance fee is 9 € per person and 7 € for students.

2. Hidden Gem The Hague: Scheveningen

When you are in the Hague you should definitely spend a couple of hours at the nearby Scheveningen beach. Just stroll along the boulevard, enjoy some sunset dining or dip your feet into the sea. The beach is basically divided in two parts, the “Noorderstrand” and the “Zuiderstrand.” The Noorderstrand, close to the famous Kurhaus Hotel, can be especially crowded in the summer, so head to the other side for a more quiet beach day.

3. Hidden Gem The Hague: Cafe Blossom

This cafe is an amazing spot for breakfast or lunch. You can basically just sit here, relax and eat all day long. Make sure to try a piece of homemade cake, like the carrot cake, as they’re all simply delicious. During the summer you can also sit on the great outside terrace and enjoy a good glass of wine in the sun or treat yourself to a piece of homemade pie. The cafe is located close to the Peace Palace and is closed on Sundays.

4. Hidden Gem The Hague: Zanzibar

When you spend a day at the beach in Scheveningen you should check out the Beach Club “Zanzibar” near Kurhaus. The restaurant is a self-described “touch of Africa” which is made evident with its interior decor. You’ll also have a fantastic view of the sea. So just sink into one of the many sofas full of colourful cushions and enjoy a little snack and some drinks.

5. Hidden Gem The Hague: Bartine

There is not much to say, every dish in Bartine is simply delicious and worth every penny. From their almond croissants or amazing cardamom rolls to their mind-blowing Turkish eggs or sabich sandwich. You simply cannot go wrong eating here, especially when you add up its cozy environment, good vibes and the positive energy its staff radiates. If that wasn’t enough, the place smells like heaven thanks to their pastries being constantly baked at the back. Bartine is located at the heart of the city so it will be hard to miss!

6. Hidden Gem The Hague: Capriole Cafe

Hidden in an industrial area, Capriole Cafe is the perfect restaurant for getting away from the busy city center. It is located on a small harbor and has an awesome water-side terrace, where you can enjoy the summer. Indoors is also great with beautiful modern decor and soft music in the background. The coffee is delicious and the food is just mouth watering. There are many vegan options as well! If you decide to come by, don’t forget to ask for their tasty ice cappuccino and white chocolate cheesecake. You won’t regret it a single bit.

7. Hidden Gem The Hague: Mugs and Mermaids

A truly unique restaurant right in the center of the city, Mugs and Mermaids will surprise you with its fun vibes and colorfulness. You can expect to find refreshing smoothies, tasty bowls and sandwiches. All of them are made with natural and colorful ingredients. However, their stars are their mind blowing pancakes! You will have a hard time choosing from their selection because you will want to taste them all. Each course is Instagram worthy thanks to spot on presentation and vibrant colors. 8. Hidden Gem The Hague: Plenty

This spot is simply vegan heaven! In Plenty, all their food and drinks are 100% plant-based. Having brunch here is a no brainer thanks to their excellently prepared drinks and dishes. Their coffee and latte are just wonderful to kick start your day. When you pair them together with a mouth-watering avocado or mushroom sandwich it’s even better. They also have sweets like cakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls and cookies for you to indulge in. With its minimalist and modern design, Plenty is without a doubt a hidden gem you will not want to miss.
