Famous author Henry Miller made his home in Big Sur and the memorial library features his important works. It also hosts events from May to October including the Big Sur International Short Film Screening and live performances from bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The graceful architecture of the bridge and beauty of the surrounding landscape makes it a popular place to take photos. Opened in 1932, the Bixby Bridge is 218 meters long and built over a steep canyon.
