Lausanne is the capital of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. These include the Museum of Art, the Museum of Archaeology and History and the Museum of Swiss Photography "Musée de l´Elysée. The Musée Olympique documents the Swiss Olympic movement since the late 19th century.

Along the lake shore there are extensive recreation areas with swimming pool, seaside resort, sports facilities, playgrounds and boat harbour facilities. You will also find several parks throughout the city, such as the Botanical Garden, the Esplanade de Montbenon and the Monrepos area. You can also relax in the town forest of Sauvabelin and in the area around Chalet-à-Gobet.
