The biggest carnival in Switzerland

The Basel Carnival is the only Protestant carnival in the world and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The world-famous event always starts on Monday after Ash Wednesday with the Morgestraich at four o'clock in the morning and ends after three days and nights on Thursday morning with the final stroke. In the meantime, parades with many actors and concerts take place on the streets of the city centre. You can also try traditional carnival dishes such as flour soup, cheese and ziibelewaie.

In late autumn the "Sonic" takes place in the St. Jakobshalle, a techno dance event which is considered to be the biggest in Switzerland.
