Between the Oostduinpark and the Westduinpark you spend dreamlike holidays in the coastal village directly at the Atlantic Ocean. Just a few hundred metres from the pier, the wide beaches and the promenade, you can rent an apartment with sea views. You live in a central location, reach Sea Life and Duinrell Leisure Park within a few minutes and benefit from the numerous restaurants and bars in the area.

In the central west of the country, Scheveningen stretches directly along the Atlantic coast of the province of South Holland. In a few centuries the former fishing village became the largest seaside resort in the Netherlands. Today's district of Den Haag convinces with its fabulous sandy beaches, family-friendly leisure activities, festivals and excellent gastronomy. With almost 56,000 inhabitants and about 18 million holiday guests a year, the town is a lively place with a relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to the kilometres of coastline and the magnificent parks of the city centre, the largest contiguous dunes in Zuid-Holland characterise the image of the municipality. The Meijendel nature reserve runs between Wassenaar, Scheveningen and The Hague. Here ancient pine forests, sandy areas, wetlands and small lakes dominate.

The wide northern beach of the village, which runs between the pier and the Buitenhaven, measures three kilometres. The wonderful promenade with restaurants, up to 50 beach pavilions and souvenir shops runs along the sand. Surfers, kiters and sailors use the perfect wind and wave conditions here. In addition, the Beach Stadium and the Sculpture Park provide entertainment on land. Especially during the summer season and at events the beach section is very busy. The smaller southern beach to the south of the fishing port is more tranquil. Here every swimmer will find a quiet place to relax. Both beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag eco-label for their water quality, safety and cleanliness.

From February to November, Scheveningen attracts tens of thousands of visitors with fascinating festivals, beach parties, sporting competitions and cultural events. One of the annual highlights is the historical festival in August, when the small town is transformed into the former fishing village of the 18th century and offers insights into the history of the town. An indispensable tradition is the Vlaggetjesdag, which takes place in June and heralds the arrival of fresh herring. The harbour festival offers freshly caught fish, musical entertainment, handicrafts and invites you to visit the ships. Every year in August the fireworks festival is the main attraction of the seaside resort. On four evenings, different countries compete against each other with their pyrotechnic masterpieces and immerse the sky in a sea of colour. The dragon festival in September and the two-week open-air classical music festival are also well worth seeing.
