By the way, Pescara has its own airport, which is approached by some budget airlines. Pescara can be reached by boat from Rome as well as from Split, Stari Grad and the island of Hvar in Croatia.

Pescara is visited by spa guests all year round. In summer, the city with its more than 20 kilometres of sandy beaches is the ideal place for bathing and relaxing holidays. Boat trips are offered especially in August by the fishermen in the village, for whom during this time there is a ban on fishing in the Adriatic Sea.

The city of Pescara organizes several concerts every year, which can be attended free of charge. The venues for the summer concerts are the Station del Mare on the beach not far from the harbour, Piazza Salotto, which means "living room space", and Piazza della Rinascita.

A very interesting museum in Pescara is the Museo Ittico Meraviglie del Mare, located north of the fishing port. In the museum there are some aquariums with fish and plants of the Adriatic. Furthermore different fossils and skeletons from the sea are shown.

Every year at the beginning of August, Pescara hosts a big fishing festival at the harbour and off the coast, where you can enjoy a lot of music as well as numerous culinary specialities from the sea. Another event worth mentioning in Pescara is the Jazz Festival "Pescara Jazz" in July, where musical greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Keith Jarrett, Bob Dylan and Paco de Lucía have already shown their skills.
