The state administrative district of Swabia, formed in 1803, belongs to the Free State of Bavaria. Situated in the southwest of Bavaria, Bavarian Swabia extends from the Bavarian Allgäu to the Nördlinger Ries. Further borders are Lake Constance and Tyrol in the south, the Lech in the east, the Iller in the west and Central Franconia in the north. You can reach Schwaben in Bavarian via the motorways A7 and A8 and the federal roads B2, B10, B16, B28 and B32. The nearest airport is Memmingen.
At the beginning of May, since the 15th century, the "Stabenfest" for children has taken place in Nördlingen, at which many people have the "Stabengucker", a bag of sweets, ready and waiting.

Above the town of Harburg is the castle of the same name, which is one of the oldest, largest and best preserved castles in southern Germany.
