For walks, the area of the fish locks at Sainte-Marie-de-Ré and Saint-Clément-des-Baleines is interesting. Take the tour over the Schleusenwall to the lighthouse. But be careful! The path can only be walked on at low tide.

On the island you will find the bird sanctuary Réserve naturelle de Lilleau des Niges, in which many species nest on 1,500 hectares. These include in particular barnacles, ringed geese, plovers and curlews. In the information centre you will also learn everything you need to know about the flora and fauna of the area.

Worth seeing is the Peu Pierroux burial mound, which consists of many flat stones and has a diameter of 27 meters. In the middle there is a stone table supported by seven columns. These columns are connected by walls that reveal small rooms. There are all kinds of bones and grave goods, such as stone axes and earthenware.
