1. Hidden Gem Vienna: Hildebrandt

The cozy “Hildebrandt Café” is located in the building of the Folklore Museum in the 8th district. The café exudes living room ambience and invites you to linger for a long time with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake on cold days. The range of breakfast and lunch dishes ranges from avocado bread and waffles to Indian lentil dal and convinces with organic quality. On warmer days, the beautiful garden in the inner courtyard, which is directly adjacent to Schönborn Park, can be used. In summer there are delicious cocktails and long drinks in a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. For the brunch lovers among you: an early reservation is definitely recommended!

You can find one of the hippest rooftops at the Ruby Marie Hotel on the Mariahilfer Straße near the Westbahnhof train station. Colourful chairs with vintage tables, cozy bean bag with small wine cases and several outdoor beds offer loads of possibilities to enjoy life. You can come here not only for a sundowner drink but also for some delicious breakfast during the week. The brunch for 16€ offers a big choice of high quality breakfast foods. 3. Hidden Gem Vienna: Plachuttas

You can not travel to Vienna and not have a “Schnitzel.” Most people will probably recommend the Figlmüller – it’s the most popular place for this Viennese delicacy, but it’s very crowded. e recommend the Plachuttas, next to the opera house. Their Schnitzel is delicious and the interior is bright and lovely. The best part: the portions are huge!

4. Hidden Gem Vienna: MUSA

This museum is totally different from the ones you might be familiar with. It´s a mixture of exhibition space, art gallery and artothek. The start gallery is for young Viennese artists to launch their careers and sell their work without commision. An artothek is like a library for art. Sound strange? It´s actually an awesome idea, and you can even borrow art here! Better yet – the whole museum complex is free!

5. Hidden Gem Vienna: Balthasar Café

If you fancy a coffee break while exploring the city, this spot is a nice place to go. Balthasar offers one of the best coffees in town. The stylish café is not only known for the sustainable coffee from Slayer’s coffee machine, but also for the variety of delicious pastries. We would 100 % recommend to go for the almond croissant. But not only espresso and cappuccino, but also filter coffee and various American creations like the Cold Drip, Cold Brew or Iced Coffee are offered. The interior comes with a scandinavian twist: lots of wood and blue mosaic imitation with golden lamps. To come here, take the subway line U1 and stop at Nestroyplatz.

6. Hidden Gem Vienna: Dachboden Bar

This rooftop bar is on top of the 25 Hours hotel in Vienna. A few years ago, the hotel was an old student hostel. Now, it’s one of the hippest accommodations in Austria’s capital. The rooftop is a mixture of beach bar meets parliament-esque cafeteria. With a great view and relaxed atmosphere, you’ll certainly enjoy your afternoon coffee break here. Our Tip: try the house-made quiche! Where: Volkstheater (closest station)
