Account verification is an important step to ensure the security of your Holidu account and enable you to receive payouts. This guide will walk you through the process of verifying your account as a private host on Holidu.

What You Need Before Starting

Before you begin the verification process, gather the following documents. Please note that clear photos or official digital downloads are required—scanned documents will not be accepted.

  • Official identification document (passport, driving licence, or national ID card)
  • Proof of bank account ownership (such as a recent bank statement or deposit slip)
  • If you are a freelancer, sole trader, or sole proprietor, your business registration number

How to Access the Verification Process

Follow these steps to start verifying your account:

  1. Log into your Holidu account
  2. Navigate to the 'Account' tab
  3. Click on 'Validate' to begin the verification process
  4. You may be asked to sign a new service agreement—accept this to continue. This agreement will not affect your current pricing

Step 1: Verify Your Personal Details

Your personal information is the foundation of your account verification. Review and confirm your details carefully.

  1. Click on 'Personal Details'
  2. Check the information that has been pre-filled from your Holidu account
  3. If any information is incorrect or incomplete, click 'Edit' to make changes
  4. Select whether your bank account is registered in your personal name or under a business structure (such as a sole proprietorship or freelance business)
  5. If applicable, provide your business registration number and address
  6. Click 'Next' to proceed

Step 2: Confirm Your Address

Your address must match the one shown on your identification document.

  1. Enter your address in the search field
  2. The system will auto-fill the address details
  3. Verify that the address matches exactly with your ID document
  4. If your billing address differs from your personal address, update it to match your identification document
  5. Proceed to the next step

Step 3: Verify Your Identity Document

You have two options for identity verification. The instant verification method is faster, while manual verification provides a backup option.

Instant Verification (Recommended)

  1. Select the country that issued your identification document
  2. Choose your document type (passport, driving licence, or ID card)
  3. Confirm that your document details match the personal information you entered
  4. Scan the provided QR code using your phone or request the link via SMS
  5. Take clear, well-lit photos of your document on both sides
  6. Submit for immediate verification

Manual Verification

  1. Select your document type
  2. Upload high-quality photos of both sides of your document from your computer
  3. Ensure the photos are clear and all text is readable
  4. Submit your documents
  5. Allow up to 72 hours for verification to complete

Step 4: Verify Your Bank Account Details

Your bank account information must match the name provided in your personal details. Choose one of the two verification methods below.

Instant Verification

  1. Select your online banking provider from the list
  2. Log into your bank account through our secure partner, Tink
  3. Your login credentials are never stored—they are used only for verification purposes
  4. Verification will be completed immediately

Manual Verification

  1. Enter your bank account details manually
  2. Upload a recent bank document (from within the last 12 months)
  3. Ensure the document shows your name, IBAN, and bank location (particularly important for non-EU residents)
  4. Submit your documents
  5. Verification may take up to 72 hours

Step 5: Provide Business Information (If Applicable)

If you operate as a freelancer, sole trader, or sole proprietor, you will need to provide additional business details.

  1. Enter your business legal name exactly as it appears on official registration documents
  2. Provide your business registration number, or indicate if you do not have one
  3. Enter your business address, ensuring it matches your official legal address
  4. Click 'Next' to continue

Step 6: Review and Sign the Service Agreement

The final step involves reviewing and accepting the service agreement from our payment provider, Adyen.

  1. Read through the service agreement carefully
  2. Click 'Sign' at the bottom of the page to complete your verification

What Happens After Verification

The timeline for account verification depends on which method you selected.

If you completed instant verification for both your identity and bank account, your account status should update immediately, and you will be able to start receiving payouts right away.

If you used manual verification for either step, you will need to wait up to 72 hours for our team to review and process your documents. You can monitor the status of your verification by logging into your Holidu account. Your status will change from "In Review" to "Complete" once the process is finished. You will also receive an email notification when your verification is complete.

Tips for a Successful Verification

  • Ensure all document photos are clear, well-lit, and fully visible. Blurry or partially visible documents may be rejected.
  • Verify that all information across your documents is consistent, especially your name and address. Discrepancies can delay verification.
  • Check your email regularly during the verification process. Our team may contact you if additional information is needed.
  • Make sure your address exactly matches what appears on your identification document.
  • If using instant verification, ensure your phone is available to scan the QR code or receive the SMS link.
